The Summit

As this the only conference on African infrastructure being organised by an active and key player in the sector, the focus will be on finding practical, business-oriented solutions to Africa’s infrastructure challenges.

The theme of the Summit, Building Tomorrow’s Africa Today, is a call to the public and a private sectors African as well as foreign – to intensify efforts and work out practical solutions, such as how to scale up and fast-track investment, reduce lead times and ensure healthy returns on investment in order to build the Africa we want.

A clear case of doing well while doing good.

Founded in 2007, AFC is an African-led investment grade multilateral development finance institution with a mission to help address Africa’s infrastructure development needs and enhance economic growth in the continent through developing quality infrastructure in the region while delivering competitive financial returns and positive social impact. 

Since its establishment as a public-private institution in 2007, the AFC has invested over $ 4 billion in infrastructure projects across 26 African countries. 15 African countries have become members of the Nigeria-based organisation and more are set to follow.

AFC’s vision is to be the leading African institution in infrastructure financing on the continent and the partner of choice for infrastructure investment across the continent.

  • Bakwena Toll Road

    The Bakwena Road consists of a 95km section of the N1 highway running from Pretoria northwards,
    and a 290km section of the N4 highway running from Pretoria westwards, to the Botswana border.
    The route was designed to form part of the Maputo development corridor and in turn, stimulate agriculture,
    manufacturing, mining and tourism by connecting South Africa’s industrial and commercial heartland, the Witwatersrand,
    with its nearest deep water port in Maputo, Mozambique.

    The MainOne System is an undersea fibre optic cable system that links countries
    on the west coast of Africa to Europe and other parts of the world.

    The Henri Konan Bedie Bridge is a US$365 million public private partnership (PPP)

    The US$90 million 25.5 MW Cabeolica wind farm is based in Cape Verde and is developed,
    owned and operated by Cabeolica SA, the project’s Special Purpose Vehicle.
